Emerl is a character from Sonic Battle and appeared on several episodes of Sonic X. He is an ancient weapon, known as the Gizoid, that was created over 4,000 years ago by the "Fourth Great Civilization," which he is responsible for the destruction of. Around fifty years ago, he was discovered by Professor Gerald Robotnik. Gerald attempted to nullify his destructive programming, but failed. In an attempt to curb it, he gave it the same qualities as his other creation, Shadow the Hedgehog, a "soul" based on that of Gerald's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. Emerl establishes a link to anyone with great power, with those whose power is greater than his current master being favored, and remains loyal to that master until the link is broken. His greatest ability, Skill Copy, allows him to learn and mimic the personality traits, knowledge, and fighting abilities of others; he amplifies this copying ability by absorbing Chaos Emeralds. However, the Gizoid is prone to being overloaded by the power of the Emeralds or from absorbing too much data, in which case he goes on a mindless rampage. Emerl is 110 cm (3'7") tall and weighs a mere 14 kg (30.8 lbs)[2]. Emerl was originally found and studied by Gerald Robotnik, but he eventually absorbed a large amount of weapons, and decimated a large section of the ARK. Years later, he was found by Dr. Eggman. While experimenting, Eggman gave Emerl a Chaos Emerald which it absorbed. As he couldn't retrieve the jewel, Eggman got angry at the robot and threw it away on a beach, and went to create his own robots, the E-121 "Phi", from the Gizoid's blueprints, empowering them by shards of Chaos Emeralds. He was later found by Sonic, who Emerl viewed as powerful, so he formed a link with him. At first Emerl had no personality, and could not speak, but as he stayed with Sonic, he developed. He continued to travel with Sonic and his companions while learning from them, forming bonds with them, and fending off Eggmans various attempts to capture him. Before Emerl could settle down to a normal life, Eggman finished his Final Egg Blaster, placed on his newly rebuilt Death Egg, and threatened the Earth with it. He teleported there and defeated him, but due to the power of the blaster, his old Gizoid programming overcame him, causing him to go on a rampage. The only option left was to destroy him. Sonic did this, and as Emerl started to break down, he reverted to his old personality and thanked Sonic for all the good times they had together. Sonic desperately tried to save his friend, but Emerl disappeared in a flash of light, leaving only the shards of the Chaos Emeralds behind. It is said at the end of the game that Emerl is still alive in the emeralds. His role in Sonic X, and the Sonic Battle arc in general, was vastly different then in the games, Notable differences include Emerl apparently being constructed by Dr Eggman himself, rather than a fourth civilisation and being found by Prof Gerald, Eggman's grandfather. Emerl's history was barely talked about. Eggman never attempted to capture emerl or design the Phi robots, and Emerl went berserk when being in contact with one emerald rather than all seven. Also notable characters never returned for the arc (such as Shadow and Gamma) while others specifically from the anime made small cameos. The whole plot for the Arc, changed from being centered around Emerl, to being about a tournament to lure Eggman and others to a Chaos Emerald.

Queen Aleena Hedgehog is a fictional character in the cartoon series Sonic Underground, where she is the mother of Sonic, Manic and Sonia. She is an anthropomorphic hedgehog with violet-eggplant hair and cloak, as well as magenta fur. Her crown and the slightly thick piece of cloth at the front end of her cloak is gold. While her armour covering her body is white, the jewel on the middle of it is cerise. She used to rule Mobius, but was deposed at the hands of Dr. Robotnik. The Oracle of Delphius has told her she was forced to leave her children in a basket as Robotnik took over ferociously, in order to protect them. Luckily, her children were saved by three separate families and were raised. Throughout the series, she helps Sonic, Manic and Sonia, whose main goal is to find her, which they fail to do despite everything. Along the way, she leaves cryptic messages and clues for them to find, and several times intervenes directly to save her children. According to prophecy, the Queen and her children will one day reunite and form the Council of Four, bringing about Robotnik's defeat. Due to the cancellation of the series, this never occurred in an episode but it is highly likely that if it wasn't cancelled the prophecy definitely would have come true. [edit] Personality Queen Aleena is caring and does her best to help her children - she once openly fired on a group of Swatbots and a Roboticiser to save Manic. Unlike Robotnik, she also cared about the people of Mobius since before Robotnik ruled, everyone lived peacefully. In fact, if she was not risking the fate of her children, she would join them and become a Freedom Fighter. [edit] Influence Aleena's past often influences the adventures of her children. In the episode Friend or Foe, she is revealed to have visited the Floating Island in the past and met Knuckles the Echidna. She left a message on the island, saying that Knuckles would be the first in a series of allies who would join her children in their quest. She also built Mobius' Hanging Gardens, which housed a specimen of the Velocitree which Robotnik used to make Sonic Tonic, a liquid that when poured on the feet made one go super fast. [edit] Abilities/Items Queen Aleena appears to possess certain magical abilities, such as projecting her image to other locations and teleporting from place to place. Her crown contains a jewel that, if separated from her, will hone in on her location

Sonia the Hedgehog is a fictional character created for the animated television series, Sonic Underground, which takes place in an alternate universe. She is an eggplant-colored anthropomorphic hedgehog with orchid spikes and hair of the same color. She bears a close resemblance to the Sonic CD design of Amy Rose. In this universe, she is the sister of Sonic the Hedgehog and Manic the Hedgehog, as well as the daughter of Queen Aleena Hedgehog. In regard to wardrobe, Sonia wears a dress with a short dark blue skirt and a red sleevless top. The two sections are separated by a band of gold that forms a pointed shape at the front with a small circle in the center of it. Unlike most Sonic characters who wear gloves, hers are blue and go up to the elbows rather than the stereotypical white hand gloves. Sonia also wears red stockings under dark blue boots, the toes of which are a matching red. [edit] Personality As she was raised with luxury and wealth, Sonia tends to be quite high maintenance, spoiled, and snooty. She hates getting dirty and constantly worries about the condition of her hair and clothes. Although she appears to be selfish, she is generally good natured and helps those that are in need. Sonia is known to occasionally talk like a valley girl, despite being voiced by a man in the English variant of the show. Sonia is very self-sufficient and does not hesitate in taking on any threat or challenge that she may encounter, often coming out on top. She likes to think things through and on many occasions, has helped her brothers out of their own troubles. [edit] Abilities Sonia is physically the strongest of her siblings. She is able to lift heavy objects as well as destroy barriers of various materials. She is skilled in martial arts, which she uses for offensive and defensive measures, and is also extremely agile. She does not have Sonic's speed, but is able to use the "Sonia Spin", where she spins a fashion similar to Taz of Looney Tunes fame. In addition to the Sonia Spin, Sonia uses a pink motorcycle to travel (this was destroyed during 'Sleepers' when it collided with a wall). Sonia's medallion transforms into a Keyboard synthesizer which is capable of firing laser blasts as well as creating smoke screens. The keyboard also transforms into a laser rifle which she uses to attack. [edit] As a Musician Sonia and her brothers are the members of the band "Sonic Underground", who perform various songs as they travel. She plays the keyboard as she has been a great pianist since childhood, as shown in the episode "Beginnings". Her keyboard occasionally sounds like an organ. In the song " Liberty Rocks", Sonia is shown to be able to play the piccolo as well. Her singing voice is so remarkably different from her regular voice that it sounds country-like, as opposed to Sonia's normal high pitched, "girlfriend" voice, however, in Fun in the Sun, she can sing very low. [edit] Love life Sonia is the only hedgehog in the series (Sonic Underground) with any sort of love life. She is shown to be often infatuated with various suitors, but knows the time and place for it. During the series, she shows romantic feelings for her former fiance Bartleby, an aristocrat who serves as Robotnik's secondary lackey. When an orange tiger named Stripes greeted Sonia, he fell in love with her. However, he was working for Dr. Robotnik, who was trying to pin the location of the Sonic Underground. Stripes gave away the locations of Sonic and Manic, but did not mention Sonia because he did not want Robotnik to harm her. She also has a crush on Knuckles the Echidna . She is also the object of a crush from Robotnik's muscle henchman, Dingo.In one episode, Knuckles seems to portray a little affection for her while considering a deal with Robotnik. [edit] Sonic the Hedgehog (comics) Sonia as she appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, Sonia makes an appearance in Sonic Super Special #10, which is titled "Crossover Chaos". In this series, she and her brothers are part of one of many alternate universes. This separates the Underground series from the canon of the comics, most likely caused by the fact that Sonic already had parents in the comic's canon. The issue had the Sonic underground team up with the Sonic Prime in order to stop Robotnik, who had used Evil Sonic to rebuild his Giant Borg suit. Due to being in an alternate universe, it is unlikely that Sonia will reappear in the comics. Sonia, the daughter of Sonic and Sally Acorn, was named by the writers after Sonic Underground Sonia, the only other acknowledgement the comics have made of the series.

The main differences from the current final design include a long orange mane around his neck, bright blue eyes and different looking boots. More concept art of Silver was released in an interview with IGN, which was generally less similar to his current design. Notable designs include a hedgehog wearing a futuristic headset and another with markings on its quills. It is also revealed that Silver was originally named "Venice"[2] after Venice, Italy, the place Soleanna is based on. He was also considered to be a mink, but the idea was later abandoned. Silver is said to have gone through over 50 different designs before reaching his final look.[3] [edit] Game appearances [edit] Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) Silver's introductory appearance is in Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. His individual episode revolves around him travelling back in time to find the "Iblis Trigger" (Sonic the Hedgehog), who was the cause of his world being destroyed in the future. He is partnered with Blaze the Cat, a female cat who first debuted in Sonic Rush. Over the course of the game, Silver learns the truth about the "Iblis Trigger", and how his world can be saved from destruction. Silver's stages stray away from traditional Sonic elements as his stages center on the usage of his telekinetic abilities. Silver must use his psychic abilities to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. He is capable of altering surrounding environments at will, enabling access to various paths in the levels that other characters cannot, or require springs and other devices to reach. He is the slowest of the three main characters, Sonic and Shadow. [edit] Sonic Rivals Silver is another one of Sonic's rivals, as he is a main character in Sonic Rivals for the PlayStation Portable. His story involves him responding to a distress signal, though he doesn't know who is sending it. Over the course of the game, he finds out that Eggman Nega is linked to this distress signal. Silver states that he will bring Eggman Nega back to the future where he belongs. Silver's abilities are similar to that of the other characters (Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and Metal Sonic) as the game is based on competition. He is able to confuse opponents by altering their controls. He is also given several alternate costumes. As the events of Sonic the Hedgehog never happened, Silver and Sonic are introduced to each other in the storyline for the first time ever. [edit] Sonic and the Secret Rings While Silver is not part of the story in Sonic and the Secret Rings, he is playable in the game's Party Mode. He is unlocked by collecting 87 Fire Souls. [edit] Sonic Rivals 2 Silver, along with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Espio, Rouge & Metal Sonic, appears in the sequel to Sonic Rivals: Sonic Rivals 2.[4] He comes from the future once again to save both the past and his own time, somehow by collecting and hiding Chao from Eggman Nega. [edit] Personality Silver has been described as having "a strong sense of justice" and it is this personality trait that motivates him to head back into the past to correct the future. Silver is also very caring and believes in standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves, which is why he accepted Blaze The Cat when everyone else was teasing her because of her pyrokinetic abilities. Although seemingly serious in nature, an interview states that Silver is somewhat immature.[7] During cutscenes in Sonic the Hedgehog Blaze mentions that Silver is naïve several times, and also states that "He gets insecure when he's alone". Silver is also very kind and caring, as displayed toward Amy Rose, Princess Elise and the Chao he hid from Eggman Nega. [edit] Major interactions with other characters [edit] Blaze the Cat Blaze the Cat is from the same time and world as Silver. Although Blaze is shy around strangers and strict with herself, she works well with Silver as a partner. They constantly work together to fight Iblis in the future. He is emotionally dependent upon Blaze, and gets insecure when she is not around. Also, Blaze claims that Silver is naive several times, and, before sacrificing herself, she says that this is something she always liked about him. Though, due to the time reboot at the end of the game, it is currently unknown if their relationship ever existed. [edit] Sonic the Hedgehog In Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog is said to be the legendary "Iblis Trigger" that set "Iblis" at least 200 years before Silver's time. As the events of that game are erased from the time line, their first meeting is in Sonic Rivals. Sonic first notices Silver's confrontational attitude when they first meet, and they do not exactly get along at first. In the end, the two help each other out during the final stage of the game fighting Eggman Nega. [edit] Amy Rose In Sonic the Hedgehog, Silver meets Amy just as he's about to attack "The Iblis Trigger" and the two agree to help each other find who they seek, unaware they both seek Sonic. When Silver is about to kill Sonic, Amy jumps out to protect her love. She argues that Sonic would never destroy the world and angrily storms off after saying she would rather choose Sonic over the world. With the world broken and Sonic dead, the two put their differences aside to save them. However, due to the time reboot, the two have never met. [edit] Mephiles the Dark In Sonic the Hedgehog, Silver's frustration at Iblis's constant resurrections is used against him by Mephiles the Dark to ensure Iblis is released in the past. Mephiles informs Silver that in the past Sonic served as the "Iblis Trigger," and uses his powers to send Silver and Blaze back in time in order to kill Sonic before this can occur. In reality, Sonic's death would serve as the catalyst. Silver initially believes Mephiles's lies, but his encounters with Sonic and the others begin to make him question Mephiles's intentions. Silver finds out the truth at the end of the game. [edit] Shadow the Hedgehog Silver is also a rival of Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic Rivals, and they both also appear in Sonic the Hedgehog. In Sonic the Hedgehog, when Silver first meets Shadow, he mistakes him for Mephiles. This and other events help Silver learn more about Mephiles and his intentions. In Sonic Rivals, Shadow, at first, does not trust Silver's instincts about "Doctor Eggman's" real personality. After realizing that Silver's speculations were right, the two form a bond and they help each other in the final stage of the game. [edit] Eggman Nega A primary enemy of Silver is Eggman Nega. Upon learning that "Eggman" was really Eggman Nega in disguise, Silver plans to defeat him and bring him back to the future. In the end Eggman Nega is transformed into a card himself. Silver plans on going back to his time with Nega after he finds all of the people who are transformed into cards. Later, when Silver's future is devastated by the Ifrit, Silver works with the other rivals to stop Nega from releasing it. [edit] Espio the Chameleon Silver is partnered with Espio the Chameleon in Sonic Rivals 2. The two start out as enemies, Silver frustrated that Espio is following him and Espio following Silver as a suspect for the Chao-nappings. The two soon learn to work together to protect the chao and eventually find a friendship in one another. By the end of the story they thank each other for helping save their worlds and say good bye. [edit] Abilities Silver's primary ability is Psychokinesis. He is shown to use the powers in a wide variety of ways. Offensive uses for his psychokinesis include being able to lift and throw anything in his path including objects, enemies, projectiles, and even other characters, a trait resembling Ristar's abilities. He can also fire shock waves that can paralyze and kill enemies. Defensive abilities include freezing incoming objects and altering the control scheme of opposing players, and making them forget how to fight temporarily. Other uses for Silver's psychokinesis are hovering, levitating, (flying), and warping through time and space during a jump. According to Sonic City, Silver also has the power to actually travel through time although it may not be true due to his interaction with Mephiles to help him go back in time in Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. Silver at the beginning was shown to be slow at speed (due to a cut speed upgrade), compared to the other Sonic characters, but in the game Sonic Rivals he is shown to be very fast. Silver also uses many of the standard Sonic moves and attacks. These include Homing Attack, Spin Dash, Spin Attack, and Super Transformation. Silver is also shown to be able to Chaos Control on several accounts. [edit] Associated songs Sonic the Hedgehog (2006 game): "Dreams of an Absolution" by Lee Brotherton. The bridge in Silver's theme song bears a resemblance to the Green Hill Zone music from the original Sonic the Hedgehog in terms of both tone and beat. Composer Lee Brotherton stated that this was not intentional, but was noted and appreciated.
